Johann Hoffmann (insurgent)
Johann Hoffmann (* in Pleystein ; † 1706 in Braunau am Inn ) was beheaded as a leader of the Bavarian popular uprising in 1706 in Braunau am Inn .
The Landesdefensionkongress zu Braunau (" Braunau Parliament ") transferred Johann Hoffmann the supreme command of a force of (depending on the source) 7,000 to 12,000 men. In the battle of Aidenbach he was defeated on January 8, 1706 by the imperial troops .
