Johann Holzer
Johann Baptist Holzer , also: Holtzer (* May 17, 1753 in Korneuburg , Lower Austria ; † September 7, 1818 in Vienna ) was one of the most important song and singspiel composers in Vienna around 1785 .
As the house composer of the Freemason lodge Zur True Eintracht , to which his lodge brother Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , who was three years his junior also belonged ( promotion work for admission in 1785 ), he is often mentioned in connection with the composition of the melody of the Austrian national anthem .
His Freemason's song In the Name of the Poor (written around 1784) shows a very strong structural similarity to today's Austrian hymn Land der Berge, Land am Strom and at least suggests that Holzer was co-authorship.
