Johann Jakob Aenishänslin
Johann Jakob Aenishänslin (born February 21, 1796 in Gelterkinden ; † November 3, 1866 there ) was a Swiss politician .
Life
Johann Jakob Aenishänslin was born the son of a farmer. After taking lessons from the village pastor and a two-year language stay in the canton of Neuchâtel , he completed a commercial apprenticeship in Basel as a businessman.
From 1824 to 1828 was Aenishänslin mayor of Gelterkinden. Until the separation of the cantons of Basel , he was a member of the Grand Council of both Basel, judge of appeal and officer. From 1833 to 1844 and from 1863 to 1866 he was the Basel district administrator and from 1835 to 1836 he was active on the education council. In 1837 he was delegate to the Diet and in 1838, 1850 and from 1862 to 1863 he was on the Constitutional Council. He was active on the government council from 1844 to 1850 and held the office of chief judge in 1834 and from 1851 to 1860. In 1838 he was president of the criminal court .
Aenishänslin was a moderate supporter of direct democracy and had an integrating effect in the newly established state. Because of his opportunism , he was nicknamed the slipper pin .
