Johann Jakob Müller (born May 31, 1650 in Jena ; † April 13, 1716 there ) was a German moral philosopher.

Life

Johann Jakob was the son of the vice principal of the council school in Jena Johannes Müller (born November 20, 1615 in Schalkau , † December 14, 1688) and Dorothea Grosner. He attended the city school in Jena, which was under the direction of Rector Johann Martin Ringler (* Jena; † May 23, 1676 ibid). At the age of fifteen he began to attend lectures at the University of Jena. Here at the philosophical faculty Johann Frischmuth , Erhard Weigel , Caspar Posner , Johann Andreas Bose , Valentin Veltheim , Johannes Musaeus , Johann Wilhelm Baier and Friedemann Bechmann became his teachers. In 1677 he acquired the academic degree of a master's degree in philosophy, became an adjunct in the philosophical faculty and received a position as private tutor in Lower Saxony.

On April 12, 1692 he became an associate professor of philosophy in Jena, received the full professorship in poetry on January 8, 1695, and the chair of logic on September 14, 1698. After he earned a licentiate of the rights on 23 October 1699 on 18 February 1700 for doctor of law doctorate , he took on 5 September 1705, the Chair of the ethical moral philosophy and politics. He also participated in the organizational tasks of the Jena Salana. He was dean of the philosophical faculty a few times and in 1704 rector of the alma mater .
