Johann Joachim Beselin

Johann Joachim Beselin (born December 4, 1661 in Rostock ; † January 17, 1718 ibid) was a German lawyer and First Mayor of Rostock.

Life

Johann Joachim Beselin was born in 1661 as the son of the Rostock businessman and senator Valentin Beselin (1628–1684) and his wife Catharina, b. Wedow (1641-1661). He studied law at the universities in Helmstedt and Rostock . He worked in Ribnitz as a provisional and in-house counsel and in Rostock as Dr. iur. utr. and from 1699 as councilor. In 1708 he was elected mayor of Rostock.

Johann Joachim Beselin married Wendula Kleinschmidt (1655–1726) on August 31, 1687, the couple had two children: Agneta Catharina (* 1688) - from 1710 married to the professor of Protestant theology Hermann Christoph Engelke - and the lawyers, councilor and mayor Valentin Johann (1693–1755).
