Valentin Johann Beselin

Valentin Johann Beselin , also the elder (born July 4, 1693 in Rostock , † December 16, 1755 in Malchin ) was a German lawyer and First Mayor of Rostock.

Life

Valentin Johann Beselin was born as the son of the Rostock lawyer and later Rostock mayor Johann Joachim Beselin (1661–1718) and his wife Wendula, née. Kleinschmidt (1655-1726). His grandfather, Valentin Beselin (1628–1684), was a senator on the Rostock council.

Beselin studied from 1709 law at the University of Rostock and was 1716 to Dr. iur. utr. He received his doctorate in 1723, he became syndic in Ribnitz and in 1726 council syndic in Rostock, where he also worked as a private lecturer at the university. In 1732 he was elected mayor of Rostock and in 1748 first mayor. As a representative of the cities, he was one of the signatories of the Land Constitutional Law Compensation (LGGEV) of 1755. Beselin died on December 16, 1755 in the Mecklenburg state parliament in Malchin . The funeral speech of the University of Rostock at the funeral of the deceased in Rostock on December 30, 1755 was held by Vice Rector Jakob Heinrich Baleke .

Valentin Johann Beselin married Anna Hedwig Horn (1699–1730) on September 24, 1716, the couple had three children: the lawyer Johann Joachim (1717–1778), Wendula Abigail (* 1718) and the protonotary Hermann Valentin (1723–1776) . After the early death of his wife, he married Christina Margarete Taddel on August 29, 1731.
