Johann Joachim Havemann

Johann Joachim Havemann (born December 22, 1782 in Lübeck ; † October 21, 1838 there ) was a merchant and councilor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Life

Havemann was born the son of the iron trader Jost Hinrich Havemann (1746-1821). In 1814 he joined his father's business, which had been in existence since 1733 and was henceforth under Jost Hinr. Havemann & Sohn operated and at that time had its headquarters at Holstenstrasse 22 . The object of the company was the operation of a "junk shop, commission and forwarding business." Johann Hinrich Havemann joined the Novgorod drivers . As their elder , he was elected to the city council on February 21, 1825. In the Senate, he mainly devoted himself to tasks of an economic nature and was active in the finance department, the tax deputation, customs, trading and shipping as well as in forestry and the building deputation. In 1836 his nephew, who later became Senator Johann Daniel Eschenburg , joined the Jost Hinr company. Havemann & Sohn and developed it into a timber trading company that is still active today and is family-owned in the eighth generation.
