Johann Josef Makloth
Johann Josef Makloth (* 1846 in Tschagguns ; † 1908 in Munich ) was an Austrian painter.
Life
Johann Josef Makloth grew up as a farm boy in Vorarlberg , in the Montafon , in simple circumstances and began his training at the Royal Art Academy in Munich in 1866 with Alexander Strähuber , Hermann Anschütz , Alexander von Wagner and Wilhelm Diez .
There he was taught the most important basics for realistic landscape painting. He studied with his friend Jakob Jehly in Munich, and the two painters from Vorarlberg were friends for a long time.
In 1873 Makloth exhibited his first picture at the Kunstverein.
