Johann Joseph Gerhard Hartmann

Johann Joseph Gerhard Hartmann (born September 24, 1806 in Algermissen ; † February 26, 1880 in Hildesheim ) was a German mathematician , university professor and second director of the Technical University of Hanover .

He studied mathematics at the Georg August University in Göttingen , where he received his doctorate in 1827. In 1828 he became an assistant teacher at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Gymnasium in Berlin , in 1832 a senior teacher at the grammar school in Aurich and in 1839 he moved to Hildesheim to the Andreanum grammar school .

In 1848 he became a mathematics teacher and second director of the Technical University in Hanover. For health reasons he had to resign in 1849 and moved to Hildesheim, where he became a member of the St. Johannis Masonic Lodge, Pforte zum Tempel des Lichts, and spokesman in the council of citizens.
