Johann Kallmeyer

Johann August Theodor Kallmeyer ( Russian Иоганн Август Теодор Кальмейер ; born 7 August . Jul / 19th August  1809 greg. In Landsen ; † April 15 jul. / 27. April  1859 greg. In Landsen ) was a Courland priest and historian .

Life

Johann was a son of the pastor Karl Friedrich Wilhelm Kallmeyer and Elisabeth Karoline Julianne Amalie, born. Hillner. He remained ĺedig all his life.

Kallmeyer studied theology in Dorpat from 1828 to 1831 . In 1832 he stayed in St. Petersburg and from 1833 to 1834 in Germany , including Berlin and Munich , Austria and Switzerland .

From 1837 to 1855 he was pastor's adjunct and from 1855 to 1859 pastor in Landsen and Hasau .

He was a member of the Courland Society for Literature and Art since 1839 , since 1840 the Society for History and Archeology of the Baltic Provinces of Russia and since 1843 the Royal Society for Nordic Archeology in Copenhagen . From 1845 he was also a corresponding member of the Estonian Literary Society .

His extensive handwritten estate and library later went to the Society for History and Archeology of the Baltic Provinces of Russia in Riga.

Works

Kallmeyer wrote and published numerous essays on the Baltic, especially Courland history, or published such, including:

  • Courland preacher lexicon (machine writing)
  • Contributions to the history of the churches and preachers of Courland (typed)
  • Livonian rhyming chronicle, writings by Salomon Henning and Paul Einhorn . In: Script. rer. Liv. 1 u. 2 (1848 and 1853) (as editor)
  • Draft for the synodal order 1855
  • Courland goods chronicles , Volume 1, Mitau 1856
