Johann Karl Droste zu Senden (baptismal name: Johann Karl Goswin Adolf) (born December 13, 1692 ; † September 4, 1761 in Münster ) was canon in Münster and royal district president.

Life

Origin and family

Johann Karl Droste zu Senden grew up as the son of Jobst Adolf Droste zu Senden and his wife Dorothea Elisabeth von Nagel zu Vornholz (1654–1705) together with his siblings Mauritz Dietrich (canon in Münster), Joahann Ferdinand (heir), Levin Christoph (canon in Hildesheim), Anna Katharina (canons in Asbeck ), Petronella and Isabella (dean in Nottuln ) in the ancient Westphalian noble family Droste .

Career and work

After attending grammar school in Münster, he studied in Rome from 1711 to 1717 . On May 16, 1709 he received a cathedral praise in Speyer , which he renounced two years later in favor of his brother Levin Christoph. Johann Karl was ordained a priest.

On July 5, 1713, he received a prebend in Münster through papal intercession . He became a treasurer at Orléans University . The revival of the knighthood of the Duchy of Jülich took place on November 18, 1725. Johann Karl was owned by the Archdeaconate Auf dem Drein and Warendorf. He was provost of St. Martini in Münster , cathedral scholaster and cathedral senior. In his will of June 15, 1752, Johann Karl had appointed his father as a universal heir. In the year of his death he renounced his prebend in favor of his nephew Clemens August.

Johann Karl Droste zu Senden was buried in Münster Cathedral.
