Johann Ludwig Albrecht

Johann Ludwig Albrecht (* 1741 in Weißenfels ; † January 1, 1814 in Berlin ) was a Prussian civil servant who worked, among other things, as a secret finance councilor and state councilor.

Life

Albrecht was born in the former residence of the Duchy of Saxony-Weißenfels and grew up in the Saxon state capital Dresden , where he attended school and high school. He had to forego studying medicine because of the Seven Years 'War and the associated loss of his parents' assets. In 1766 Albrecht got a job at the Excise and Customs Directorate in Glogau , which he took over in 1782 after 16 years of practical experience. In 1774 he was accepted into the Freemasons ' league .

On December 27, 1786 he was promoted to the position of first director of the Glogau provincial accusation office in the capacity of war and domain council . In this role he assisted a. the Finance Councilor Ludwig August Dieterich in setting up new excise tariffs in Silesia . In 1793 Johann Ludwig Albrecht moved to Posen , where he became a member of a Prussian commission at the suggestion of the Prussian finance minister Carl August von Struensee von Carlsbach , which was to reorganize the excise and customs system in southern Prussia. A little later through this activity he became General Excise and Customs Director in South Prussia.

On February 1, 1789, Albrecht was promoted to the Privy Council of War and on April 21, 1795 to the Finance Council. In 1802 he was commissioned to set up the indirect tax system in the new Lower Saxony Prussian provinces. In 1819 he was promoted to the State Council. Due to illness, he said goodbye in 1814 and died two years later on New Year's Day 1814 of an inflammation in the abdomen after five months of sick bed in Berlin.

He left the widow born Eberbach and four children, including the later Prussian government councilor Carl Friedrich Albrecht (* 1774).
