Johann Magdeburg
Johann Magdeburg (* around 1530 in Gardelegen ; † September 6, 1565 in Hamburg ) was a German Protestant spiritual poet.
Life
Joachim Magdeburg's brother had moved into the University of Wittenberg in 1546 and was a deacon in Lunden in 1556 , where he signed the confession of Holy Communion in the Dithmarschen churches. During that time he was also in contact with Joachim Westphal on the question of the Lord's Supper . In June 1563 he became a deacon at the St. Katharinenkirche in Hamburg , in which position he died a little later of the plague.
In the year of his death, “The Psalter of David, written in German rhymes” (Frankfurt / Main, with Peter Brubach) was published. Some of the songs that have been translated have found their way into various hymn books, such as that of Frankfurt am Main in 1603 .
