Johann Martin Gumpp the Elder
Johann Martin Gumpp the Elder (born November 7, 1643 in Innsbruck ; † July 3, 1729 there ) was an Austrian architect.
Gumpp, son of the architect Christoph Gumpp , shaped Innsbruck's Maria-Theresien-Strasse (including the Palais Taxis, Troyer, Trapp and the Spitalskirche ) and the now profaned Ursuline Church on the Innrain with the construction of aristocratic palaces based on the Italian model . Its facades are decorated with stucco , friezes or masks and lead to the high baroque . His sons Georg Anton and Johann Martin Gumpp were the third generation of Gumpp architects in Innsbruck.
