Johann Michael Weinkopf

Johann Michael Weinkopf (born September 15, 1780 in Kirchberg am Walde , † March 8, 1862 in Vienna ) was an Austrian singer (bass) and actor .

Life

Weinkopf initially belonged to the ensemble of the Theater an der Wien and played the role of Minister Don Fernando at the premiere of Beethoven's opera Fidelio on November 20, 1805, as well as in the two performances of the second version of the opera on March 29 and April 10, 1806 .

From June 15, 1807 to 1809 and from 1814 to November 30, 1821, he was a member of the Vienna Court Theater.

In later years Weinkopf was choirmaster of the boys' choir at the court opera theater, cathedral singer with St. Stephan and conductor at the court parish church of St. Michael .

Around 1835 he ran a “music and singles institution” in the small Michaelerhaus (today Michaelerplatz 6).
