Johann Nepomuk Franciscus Josephus Callasantius Optatus Mießl Edler vonzeileisen (baptized June 4, 1768 in St. Joachimsthal ; † April 10, 1842 ibid), was a Bohemian Imperial and Royal postmaster , lead and red lead factory owner, and mayor of St. Joachimsthal.

Life

Johann Optat Mießl was born in the Bohemian St. Joachimsthal in the Ore Mountains. He was the youngest son of the chief administrator and mountain judge Johann Nepomuk Mießl (1733–1802) and his wife Maria Barbara geb. Macasius (1732-1801).

In 1786 the family was raised to hereditary nobility. From then on he also carried the title Edler von Linienisen . Originally the predicate and coat of arms referred to the Joachimsthaler crafts and Nuremberg patrician Hanns line iron (1488–1576), from whom Mießl's mother derived her descent. It was from the same family that the Reiheisen scholarship came from , which the family made use of.

In 1787 his father set up a red lead and white lead factory below the town near the smelter, which also included a blue paint factory , which Mießl took over and continued to operate under the name of kk priv. Bleiweiß, Minium and Patent-Schrott Fabrik zu Joachimsthal . Blue paint was also produced there under the supervision of Messrs. Hellmich and Johann Ungersthaler. However, under his leadership, the factory no longer had an extensive operation and was finally given up completely.

Mießl held the office of mayor of St. Joachimsthal from 1802 to 1804 and from 1829 to 1841. He also took over the post of kk mail carrier and postmaster in his hometown. He died on April 10, 1842 at the age of 72 in St. Joachimsthal.
