Johann Nepomuk Mießl , (also Miesl , Miessl ), since 1786 Edler vonzeileisen (baptized May 13, 1733 in Platten ; † January 30, 1802 in St. Joachimsthal ) was a Bohemian mountain official , entrepreneur and local researcher who was raised to the nobility .

Life

Johann Nepomuk Miessl was the second eldest son of the citizen, councilor and wholesaler Johann Paul Miesl (1676–1744) and his second wife Maria Anna, née. Plaster (1706–1766). In his first marriage his father was with Anna Margaretha geb. Meyer, the widow of the forest and mountain master von Platten Johann Friedrich Hacker .

Since 1756 he held in Jachymov the office of the top tenth of Ner , and the upper office manager, Berggericht assessor , Mountain judge and Mountain Council . To save the arial treasury he had the peat charred in brick ovens, which enabled the running costs of the peat coals to be reduced from 46 florins to 24 florins. After a 30-year term in office, he received the nobility diploma from Emperor Joseph II on June 10, 1786 in Vienna . At the same time he acquired the coat of arms and the predicate Edler von Linienisen from the line iron line, which died out in the male line . Originally, the coat of arms was given in 1544 to the merchant Hannszeileisen, who in turn was an ancestor of Mießl's wife.

In 1787 he founded a red lead and red lead factory below the town near a smelter. It was the first of its kind in Bohemia. As a local researcher, he wrote the chronicle Historical Description of the Free Mountain City of St. Joachimsthal in four volumes from 1788 to 1798 . The first volume, From Origin to 1545, is preserved as a manuscript in the Bohemian State Museum in Prague. In 1798 he was retired. He died of old age in 1802 at the age of 69. A two-meter-high grave monument was erected for him and his wife in the Joachimsthal cemetery, which is considered to be artistically significant.

His older brother was the mayor of Platten Joseph Ignaz Miesl, his younger brother the official director of Heinrichsgrün Florian Miesl. His nephew was the state official and mayor of Wiener Neustadt Felix Mießl .

Extracts

Extract from the Oberamt protocol from July 14, 1786:

"The K. The district office announces that thanks to court decree of June 10, 1786, the local upper tenant Johann N. Miesl has been awarded the nobility with the title Edler vonzeileisen. This Praedicat refers to the former local tradesmen and Nuremberg patrician line iron, from whom Miesl derives his descent, which is why Miesl was instructed to get in correspondence with the authorities in Nuremberg. "

Excerpt from the epitaph:

"Par Nobile Ioannes et Barbara de Linieisen Hos pares fecit amor conjugalis Nec impares facere potuit mors fatalis Pares aetate ac infirmitate Pares patientia et pietate Vixerunt ambo rara aequilitate."
