Johann Peter Heuschkel
Johann Peter Heuschkel (born January 4, 1773 in Harras near Hildburghausen , † December 5, 1853 in Biebrich ) was a German oboist , organist and composer , as well as Kapellmeister in Hildburghausen .
He came to Hildburghausen in 1787 to be instructed in figured bass by the organist (Johann Paul) Hummel. On his recommendation he got a job as organist and conductor in 1792. There he brought out a chorale book under his name in 1808. In 1794 he became the first oboist and music teacher for the ducal children. In 1795 he also became a singing teacher at the Hildburghausen teachers' seminar.
In 1796 he had a later famous piano student: Carl Maria von Weber . He was a strict teacher: Carl's father, Anton von Weber, judged him: … severity, which the boy found this way of studying unbelievably spiritless and not very amusing, cost many a tear. But this developed Weber's ingenious talent. Even Friedrich Dotzauer was among the students of Heuschkel.
In 1818 he came to Biebrich and became a chamber musician and court music teacher in the service of Duke Wilhelm von Nassau . His wife was Luise von Sachsen-Hildburghausen . He worked there until his death.
family
He married Christiane Margarethe Bartenstein on May 18, 1807 (* October 5, 1783 in Königsberg in Saxony-Hildburghausen; † June 18, 1844 in Biebrich). His daughter Maria Laura (1810–1887) is the mother of the philosopher Wilhelm Dilthey . Another daughter Marie (1808-1889) remained unmarried.
