Johann Reinhard Blum

Johann Reinhard Blum (born October 28, 1802 in Hanau ; † August 21, 1883 in Heidelberg ) was a German mineralogist .

Life

Between 1821 and 1825, Blum completed a political education at the universities in Heidelberg and Marburg. He then began studying mineralogy in Heidelberg, where he received his doctorate and qualified as a professor in 1828. In 1838 he received an extraordinary and in 1856 a full professorship for mineralogy in Heidelberg. He was a member of the Society of German Natural Scientists and Doctors . He was a founding member of the Upper Rhine Geological Association .

Blum was a member of the extinct corps Hassia Heidelberg (1821) and Hassia Marburg (1824).

He is buried in the Heidelberg Bergfriedhof .
