Johann Schauenburg also: Johann Schoweborg, Johannes Schouwenborch, Johann Schotteborch or Schomberger (* around 1445, † around 1510), was provost of the Uetersen monastery .

Life

Provost Johann Schauenburg was Otto Schauenburg's successor and belonged to the Schauenburg family . It first appeared in 1470. He is mentioned as follows on an inscription on a brass candlestick: “Ao. Dni. MCCCC, do you scref in the LXX Jar (1470), do let Mester Johann Schoweboerg, Prowest to Utersten make his luechter her inne sune stede ”. In 1488 he is once called "Schomberger", once only with the first name "Johann" (March 25, 1488). In 1504 he and his brother Hinrich donated a golden chalice to the monastery church in Uetersen with the inscription: “Anno Dni. XV'IIII johannes schouwenborch he brother hinrick cius dederunt huc calicen aureum, orate pro eis “. In 1504 he was mentioned in documents several times, but was no longer the monastery provost during this time. During this time, Ketel and Benedikt von Ahlefeldt were the provosts of the monastery.

It was not until August 30, 1510 that he reappeared in a document from Count John IV, in which he confirmed him as a relative. During this time he was again the monastery provost and carried out the office until 1510. Johann Schauenburg died around 1510, and Johann von der Wisch was his successor .
