Johann Thomas Hagemann

Johann Thomas Hagemann (born October 24, 1771 in Hamburg ; † July 17, 1853 there ) was a German engraver .

Life

Hagemann was a student of the renowned Hamburg copper engraver Thomas Albrecht Pingeling . He worked with him in a workshop until Pingeling's death in 1803 and also lived in his house. He mainly cut maps, such as those of the Ritzebüttel office along with the local hydraulic structures and sea markings (1807) and maps of the city of Hamburg for the geometer Paridom Gottlob Heinrich (1810). In the years 1808 to 1810 he engraved templates of the calligrapher and mathematician Andreas Grüning (1756-1821) for his publications. He was buried in St. Michaelis .
