Johann Ulrich Eisenhut (* 23. August 1823 in Gais ; † 11. June 1890 ibid ; heimatberechtigt ) was a Swiss entrepreneur , Cantonal , Government and National Council of the canton of Appenzell Outer Rhodes .

Life

Johann Ulrich Eisenhut was a son of Bartholome Eisenhut, schoolmaster , and Katharina Barbara Willi. In 1848 he married Anna Katharina Eisenhut, daughter of Johannes Eisenhut. He attended primary school with his father in Gais. He worked as a doctor's assistant in Heiden . Between 1838 and 1841 he was an employee in an embroidery shop in Gais. In 1841 he founded a chain stitch embroidery company . He gradually enlarged it and ran it until his death. In addition, Eisenhut was active in cattle breeding .

In Gais he was a local councilor from 1852 to 1864 . From 1858 to 1864 he was the mayor of the community . In the years 1857 and 1858 he was a member of the dual district administrator in Ausserrhoden. From 1858 to 1876 he sat on the Grand Council . From 1876 to 1877 and from 1883 to 1886 he served as chief judge . From 1875 to 1881 he was an auditor. From 1877 to 1883 he held the office of government council. From 1884 to 1890 he was a cantonal councilor. In the National Council, of which he was a member from 1883 to 1890, the moderately liberal monkshood was part of the political center. However, he did not take part in parliamentary groups. He had a decisive influence on the approval of the medical practice in Ausserrhoden. The main focus of his political work, however, was on agricultural and transport policy . Among other things, Eisenhut sponsored the construction of the St.Gallen-Gais tram . From 1887 to 1890 he was Vice President of the St. Gallen-Gais tram.
