Johann Waltner

Johann Waltner (born June 27, 1900 in Vienna ; † July 20, 1987 in Klosterneuburg ) was an Austrian farmer and politician ( ÖVP ). Waltner was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament and from 1949 to 1964 a regional councilor in the Lower Austrian state government .

Life

After elementary school, Waltner worked as a farmer and took over his parents' business in 1925. He was awarded the professional title of Economics Council.

Waltner became local farmers' council chairman in 1924 and held the office of mayor of Altenwörth between 1929 and 1938 and from 1945 to 1960 . He was active in the district school council, in the road committee and in the cooperative system and was chairman of the district chamber of farmers.

After the National Socialists came to power, Waltner was arrested in 1938 and drafted into military service between 1939 and 1940.

After the Second World War, Waltner was chairman of the Association of Lower Austrian Community Representatives of the ÖVP from 1947 to 1949. Between December 12, 1945 and January 20, 1960, Waltner was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament, and between May 19, 1949 and November 19, 1964, he was also regional councilor.
