Johann Weidner (painter)

Johann Weidner (* around 1628 ; † 1706 ) was a German painter and draftsman who worked in Augsburg and Tübingen , among others .

Life

In 1649 Johann Weidner portrayed Daniel Sturm , Johann Martin Rauscher and Johann Wurmser for the Tübingen Professorengalerie , where his paintings are still preserved today. He also created portraits of Johann Frobenius Ignaz von Waldburg-Zeil and the doctor of medicine Lucas Schröck (1620-1689) together with Philipp Kilian (1628–1693 ).

In 1690 Johann Weidner created a painting of Johann Christoph von Freyberg, who had died shortly before, as a copy of his portrait in Dillingen Castle. He also made detailed drawings of the choir stalls of the Augsburg Fugger Chapel St. Anna.

Weidner had a son of the same name, Johann Weidner (* December 17, 1671, † December 3, 1735 in Augsburg), who studied in Jena and Halle before he became a deacon at the Barfüßerkirche in Augsburg in 1704. In 1718 this pastor was at St. Joseph and in 1719 at St. Ulrich.
