One of his pupils was Johann Georg Seiller . He married in 1651 and had two sons, Wolfgang Philipp Kilian (1654–1732) and Jeremias Kilian (approx. 1766–1730), who were also engravers.

Works (selection)

Kilian made around 300 book decorations and portraits. Among other things, he produced life-size portraits of Emperor Leopold I and his son Joseph on horseback. He also provided copperplate engravings of biblical events, such as the conquest of Jericho based on a template by Matthias Scheits for an edition of the illustrated Bible from 1672.
