Johann Wilhelm Detlev Georg (born July 21, 1779 in Oldenburg (Oldb) ; † March 31, 1840 there ) was German administrative lawyer and Oldenburg chamber director.

Life

Georg was born as the son of the government councilor and later vice director of the government chancellery Johann Conrad Georg (1741-1807). He attended grammar school in Oldenburg and studied law at the University of Göttingen from 1798 to 1801 . After a brief activity as a junior lawyer, he was employed as a secretary at the Oldenburg Chamber in 1804 and was appointed assessor in 1808 . In October 1810 he became bailiff in Rastede , but lost this post the following year due to the French occupation of the country and instead became justice of the peace in the now French canton of Rastede . After the return of Duke Peter Friedrich Ludwig in 1814, he was again headed the now significantly enlarged office of Rastede, for the expansion of which he did great service. In view of the continuous population growth, the increasing hunger for land, especially of the lower social classes, could only be satisfied to some extent by dividing up previous meanness and by reclaiming the moors . Georg initiated and organized the division of these nasties in his district, advocated the introduction of improved cultivation methods and promoted the settlement of the wasteland. He published several articles about his experiences in the Oldenburgischen Blätter .

He was one of the first members of the Agricultural Society founded in 1818 , was elected to its board in 1822 and was the first chairman of this society from 1832 to 1839. In 1821 the experienced civil servant was transferred to the central administration in Oldenburg. He was initially active as a councilor to the government and moved to the chamber in 1830. In 1832 he was appointed deputy director, in 1837 director of the chamber and awarded the title of Council of State. From 1824 he was also a member of the management of the widows ', orphans' and annuity funds, which he chaired in 1832. In 1840 he was also appointed chairman of the Oldenburg Military College .

family

Georg was married twice. On June 30, 1809 he married Wicherine Johanne Gebhardine Schelten (1789-1837), the daughter of a domain councilor in Leer . After her death, on May 27, 1838, he married Charlotte Ernestine von Finckh (1809–1899), the daughter of Christian Daniel von Finckh (1765–1813), who was shot by the French in 1813 . The marriage resulted in two daughters, of whom Christel Karoline married the Privy Councilor of State Carl Friedrich Hayessen (1794–1862) and Elisabeth Sophie Amalie married the Oldenburg Supreme Court President Georg Ernst von Finckh (1803–1889).
