Johann Wilhelm Jelpke

Johann Wilhelm Jelpke (* 1717 / 1720 in Braunschweig ; † 18th March 1764 or 1783 ) was a German hymn writer .

Jelpke studied theology at the University of Helmstedt from 1739 . In 1747 he became vice principal at the Martineum in Braunschweig. In 1763 he took a reputation as ao. Professor of Latin at the Collegium Carolinum . Some of the shepherd's games come from him , as well as a spiritual morning song that was included in Braunschweig's hymn book in 1779.
