from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann Wilhelm Manstadt (born June 16, 1722 in Sweden , † July 20, 1788 in Hamburg ) was a Swedish sculptor who worked in Hamburg.

Life

Johann Wilhelm Manstadt, about whose life little is known, worked as a sculptor in Hamburg from 1770. His reputation as a sculptor at the time is demonstrated by his work at the former Hamburg City Hall , i.e. the City Hall on the Trostbrücke , as evidenced by the Schimmelmann family as a contractor, for example. Most of his sculptures were destroyed in the Hamburg fire .

The Manstadtsweg in Hamburg- Barmbek-Nord is named after him.
