Johann Zacharias Hermann Hahn

Johann Zacharias Hermann Hahn (born August 18, 1768 in Schneeberg , † November 22, 1826 in Gera ) was a German Lutheran clergyman and hymn poet . His grandfather was the murdered preacher Hermann Joachim Hahn . Johann Hahn himself also worked as a preacher in his hometown. Later he was appointed as superintendent and consistorial assessor to Gera, where he died at the age of 58. Hahn composed about twenty sacred songs, some of which were widely used. For the first time his songs were printed in the hymn book of the Leipzig Free School from 1793, there are also songs in a hymn book of the city of Gera from 1822 and a song in a hymn book of the city of Hamburg from 1842.
