Johann von Reutern

Johann von Reutern (* 1666 in Koyenholm near Riga ; † December 19, 1714 ) was councilor in Riga.

Origin and family

He came from a family of merchants and councilors from the Hanseatic city of Lübeck . His father Johann Reuter was born in Lübeck, settled in Riga as a young man and was raised to the Swedish aristocracy on June 21, 1691 as von Reutern in the , last held the office of chief rival. His mother was Elisabeth von Freden.

Johann von Reutern was married to Katharina Barbara Metsue von Dannenstern († 1719). His descendants registered with the Livonian Knighthood in 1742 and with the Estonian Knighthood in 1746 .

Life

Reutern was a second-generation businessman in Riga and owned the von Reuternsche house , which is named after the family today, at Marstallstrasse 2 in Riga (Latvian: Mārstaļu iela ). In 1703 he was an alterman of the Great Guild in Riga and in 1709 a councilor there. After the siege of Riga , he and the Rigian mayor Hermann Witte von Nordeck (* 1652, † 1710) negotiated surrender in the Russian camp for the city. Furthermore he was with the offices of the Rigischen Oberbau- u. Entrusted to the stable owner, was bailiff ibid. And inspector of the Rigian patrimonial property. The later Lübeck merchant and councilor Adde Severin (* 1668; † 1731) was an apprentice at Reutern in Riga.

From his father's inheritance, Reutern was also the master of Koyenholm, Libitzuholm and Parzenholm, all of which were Rigische city estates.
