Johanna Kandl
Johanna Kandl (* 1954 in Vienna ) is an Austrian artist. She lives in Vienna and Berlin and works mainly in the media of painting and video art .
Life
Johanna Kandl studied from 1971 to 1980 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna , a. a. with Wolfgang Hollegha , and painting and restoration in Belgrade . Since 1979 she has realized numerous exhibitions and projects at home and abroad, especially in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union . She was artistically and curatorially active in Georgia , Azerbaijan , Ukraine , Russia , Poland , Romania , Lithuania , Ex-Yugoslavia and the Czech Republic .
She has been married to Helmut Kandl since 1997 , with whom she realizes numerous projects.
In 2006 she created the concept sculpture Memorial for a Nobel Prize Winner on the Volkertmarkt in Vienna's 2nd district . The work was stolen by strangers in March 2017 and is wanted by the criminal police. From 2005 to 2013 she was a professor at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, Painting Department.
