Johanna Kundmann

Johanna Pauline Alexandrine Kundmann (born April 24, 1914 in Mistelbach ; † May 8, 2000 in Linz ) was an Austrian lawyer and judge . Kundmann was, together with Gertrud Jaklin, one of the first two women to be appointed judge in Austria in 1947.

Origin and education

Johanna Kundmann was born on April 24, 1914 as the daughter of the daughter of the kk gendarmerie - Colonel Johann Kundmann and his wife Elisabeth (née Augustowska) in Mistelbach, Lower Austria . From 1926 to 1927 she first attended the girls 'reform high school run by the English Misses in St. Pölten before the family moved to Linz and Johanna Kundmann graduated from the girls' reform high school run by the sisters of the Holy Cross there . In 1934, she put her graduation with honors and then started at the Universities of Vienna and Graz the Study of Law . Professional background

Immediately after the study Johanna Kundmann began on June 26, 1936, the court practice in the District Court of Gmunden . Subsequently, she worked at several offices in Linz and Innsbruck as well as for a lawyer and a notary. In January 1943 she finally passed the Great State Examination under German law and then became an assessor . In 1945 Johanna Kundmann was appointed assistant judge. On August 13, 1947, she was finally appointed judge of professional group 1 at the Linz Regional Court , with Johanna Kundmann at the same time as Gertrud Jaklin (at the Vienna Regional Court for Civil Law Matters ) one of the first two women to be appointed judge in Austria.

Johanna Kundmann subsequently worked as a judge at various courts in the district of the Linz Higher Regional Court and was also appointed to the Higher Regional Court Counselor. During this time, non-dispute and youth protection law emerged as specialist areas . In August 1974 she became head of the district court Urfahr-Umgebung , on August 31, 1975 she entered permanent retirement. She died on May 8, 2000 in Linz.
