Countess Johanna Sophie zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg (* December 16, 1673 in Langenburg ; † August 18, 1743 in Stadthagen ) was a German noblewoman and by marriage Countess zu Schaumburg-Lippe .

biography

Johanna Sophie was the sixth daughter of Count Heinrich Friedrich zu Hohenlohe-Langenburg and his second wife Juliana Dorothea Countess von Castell-Remlingen . Besides her beauty, she was also a clever and docile student.

Marriage and offspring

On January 4, 1691, Johanna Sophie married Count Friedrich Christian zu Schaumburg-Lippe (1655–1728) in Langenburg . At the beginning of their marriage, she was often allowed to travel with her husband, but was then increasingly left behind. When a quarrel broke out between Johanna Sophie and her husband, she moved to Hanover with her two sons. The marriage with Friedrich Christian was divorced in 1723 and two years later he married his lover, Maria Anna von Gall. The following children were born from the marriage:

  • Wilhelm Ludwig (* / † 1695)
  • Sophie Charlotte (* / † 1697)
  • Philip (1697–1698)
  • Albrecht Wolfgang (1699–1748), Count of Schaumburg-Lippe 1728–1748
  • Friedrich Ludwig Karl (1702–1776)

She moved with her sons first to Minden , then to Hanover .

Next life

In Hanover, she made friends with the Elector Princess Caroline of Brandenburg-Ansbach (1683–1737), who later became the wife of King George II, and accompanied her to Great Britain . At the English court of the Hanoverians in London, the countess worked as a lady-in-waiting.
