history

Around 1500 there was a chapel in Lorüns, which was consecrated to Johannes Nepomuk because of the dangerous nature of the Ill for the place . This was expanded in 1820. In the 20th century, Capuchins and chaplains from Bludenz began to hold masses in the chapel on Sundays.

Since the chapel in Lorüns was too small and damp, a new building was operated in 1934 after completion of the Holy Cross Church in Bludenz, with the establishment of a church building association. Only after the Second World War could the construction of the church begin in 1956. On Christmas Eve 1960, the first mass was celebrated in the new church with Pastor Dean Adolf Ammann. The church was consecrated on June 7, 1964 by Auxiliary Bishop Bruno Wechner .
