Johannes Becker (lawyer)

Johannes Becker (born December 23, 1897 in Insterburg , East Prussia ; † May 10, 1971 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German lawyer and president of the regional court in Frankfurt am Main from 1945. Until 1933 he was chairman of a civil appeal chamber.

Becker studied law at the University of Frankfurt am Main and began his legal career there in 1923 as a trainee lawyer. He was chairman of the board of directors of Frankfurter Sparkasse from 1822 .

On August 8, 1930, Becker married Anna Bendheimer (1902–?), Daughter of Jonas Bendheimer and Rosa Nathan. Becker was attacked during the Third Reich because his wife was Jewish and because he did not want to let her down. The umbrella organization of its student union in Frankfurt ordered the exclusion of the " Jewish Versippten " around 1935. He was also transferred from the 7th civil chamber to the land registry and in 1944 assigned to work in an armaments industry. The couple had two children, Hans Dieter and Anneliese. Johannes Becker was Protestant .

Becker received the plaque of honor from the city of Frankfurt am Main in 1962 and the Great Cross of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in the same year .
