Johannes Bigge

Johannes Bigge (* 1989 in Berlin ) is a German jazz musician ( piano , composition ).

Live and act

Bigge grew up in a Berlin family of musicians; he received classical piano lessons from the age of eight. In addition, he soon began to improvise and compose and play in various pop bands. At the age of 16 he founded his first jazz trio, with whom he performed regularly in Berlin. After graduating from high school, he studied jazz piano at the Leipzig University of Music with Richie Beirach ; since 2014 he has been a master student of Michael Wollny .

Bigge founded his Johannes Bigge Trio in 2010, which included bassist Athina Kontou from the start; Moritz Baumgärtner has been playing the drums since 2014 . With this trio he released two albums on nWog Records. He also belongs to the groups of Athina Kontou and Luise Volkmann and has also recorded with Felix Meyer .

In 2012 the Johannes Bigge Trio was awarded the Leipzig Jazz Young Talent Prize of the Marion Ermer Foundation for its music.
