Otis Sandsjö

Otis Sandsjö (born July 7, 1987 in Gothenburg ) is a Swedish jazz musician ( saxophone , clarinet , flute , composition ) who initially worked as an actor and singer.

Act

As a child, Sandsjö was involved in 14 episodes of the television series När karusellerna sover . His music career began as a singer in the reggae band Ska'l Man , which won Göteborgstalangen in 2003 and released an album the following year. He released two records with the band Andra Generations and took part in the Melodifestivalen in 2008 and 2010. Then he worked with Isabel Sörling and Farvel as well as the Gothenborg Gadjos . In 2016 he moved to Berlin, where he worked on Lucia Cadotsch's project Speak Low . He also composed the piece Baby It's You, Not Me for the Danish dance band The Mob , in which he also played the solo saxophone.

In 2018 the album of the same name was released with his project Y-Otis , in which Elias Stemeseder , Petter Eldh and Tilo Weber were involved; He also works with Marc Lohr in the techno project otis sun and in Eldh's quintet Koma Saxo (with Jonas Kullhammar , Mikko Innanen and Christian Lillinger ), where “his circular breathing” and playing on the tenor saxophone creates stimulating “surfaces and overtones”. In 2020 the album Y-OTIS 2 (We Jazz Records) followed. He can also be heard on albums by Janis Görlich, Simon Kanzler, Luise Volkmann , Helena Wahlström and Johannes Vidén.
