Johannes "Hans" Nikel Di (e) cel (born October 10, 1676 in Seebach ; † November 9, 1758 ibid) was an autodidactic doctor of supraregional importance and an important personality in the history of Seebach in what is now the Wartburg district.

Life

Johannes Dicel was the seventh child of a day laborer and line weaver. In 1724 he was appointed medicus practicus by Duke Johann Wilhelm in Eisenach .

He financed the construction of the church building in the town center, which took place in 1736, and established foundations that had existed for decades to promote and finance schools, churches and parishes. Because Seebach became an independent pastor's office on his initiative (and funding), he laid the foundation for Seebach's communal independence (by keeping his own church records as a civil status register from 1750).

After him the mainstream school “J. Dicel “Seebach and the Johannes Dicel Church in Seebach also bears his name.
