Johannes Eurich

Johannes Eurich (* 1962 ) is a German practical theologian and diaconal scholar .

Eurich completed his studies in Protestant theology , which began in 1986, in 1991 when he obtained the title Master of Divinity at Bethel University . After a few years in pastoral service, he wrote his dissertation from 1996 to 2000 , which deals with the "religious mediation of the concept of symbol in postmodernism [...] using the example of music". In 2001/2002 he held a postdoctoral fellowship from the German Research Foundation ; He then worked as a research assistant at the Ruhr University Bochum (2002–2004) and as a research assistant at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg (2004–2007). There he completed his habilitation in 2007 with a paper entitled Justice for People with Disabilities. Distribution-theoretical considerations - theological justifications - socio-political perspectives .

In 2007 he was appointed to a professorship for ethics in the social work department at the Evangelical University of Rhineland-Westphalia-Lippe in Bochum . In 2009 he changed to the chair for practical theology and diaconal science at the University of Heidelberg, where he also heads the diaconal science institute . From 2013 to 2015 he was dean of the theological faculty. Since 2011 he has been “Extraordinary Professor” for practical theology at Stellenbosch University . In the Evangelical Church in Germany he chairs the Scientific Advisory Board of the Social Science Institute and is a member of the Chamber for Social Order.
