Johannes Girtanner from Luxburg

Johannes Girtanner von Luxburg , until 1776 Johannes Girtanner (* 1705 in St. Gallen ; † 1781 in Zweibrücken ), was Hesse-Darmstadt and Princely Palatinate-Zweibrücken Privy Councilor . He is the progenitor of the barons of Luxburg .

Life

He came from a St. Gallen council family , his father was Friedrich Girtanner . He became wealthy from the salt trade. In 1761 he acquired the noble outdoor residence Luxburg near Egnach on Lake Constance . 1776, he was Emperor Joseph II. In the kingdom knighthood and three years later (1779) with its male and female descendants in the realm baron conditions applicable. His son Johann Friedrich von Luxburg acquired the title of imperial count for himself and his descendants in 1790 .
