John II of Bokholt

Johannes II von Bokholt (* in Lübeck ; † October 6, 1331 in Schleswig ) was a Roman Catholic bishop in the diocese of Schleswig .

Life

Johann von Bokholt was one of the sons of the Lübeck councilor Siegfried von Bokholt . Determined to be a cleric, he was first canon and dean in Lübeck and in 1308 he was promoted to bishop in Schleswig. During his tenure from 1310 to 1320 the construction of the Schwahl , an open cloister on the north side of the Schleswig Cathedral, fell .

According to tradition, at least at the beginning of the 17th century, his monumental grave slab was still on the north side of the choir in Schleswig Cathedral. It is no longer available today, but has been described in the literature.

His brother Heinrich II. Bochholt was bishop in the Diocese of Lübeck .
