Christian Johannes Jacobsen (born May 1, 1854 in Hadersleben , † February 19, 1919 in Eckardtsheim near Bielefeld ) was a German Protestant pastor and borderland activist.

Life

After high school studied Jacobsen in Bonn , Berlin and Kiel theology . In 1880 Jacobsen initiated a student committee in Kiel to spread the anti-Semite petition . Under his leadership, the Association of German Students Kiel was founded in 1881 . In the same year Jacobsen finished his studies and in 1884 became parish priest in Scherrebek ( North Schleswig ).

In addition to his pastoral work, Jacobsen increasingly acted as a promoter of Germanness in North Schleswig in the 1890s. In 1890 he was a co-founder of the "German Association for Northern Schleswig". In the following period he tried to develop the village in the surrounding communities. In 1896, together with Friedrich Deneken , he founded the Scherrebeker Web School, which became known for its Art Nouveau tapestries. The school had a clearly national program. In addition to manual skills, the Danish weavers were mainly taught the German language.

Jacobsen's boldest project, however, was the establishment of the “German seaside resort Lakolk ” on the island of Röm , with which he wanted to promote German tourism in the region and the further settlement of German-speaking residents. The seaside resort was opened in 1898, but only lasted a few years and eventually filed for bankruptcy. Jacobsen came under increasing criticism due to questionable financial machinations. The weaving school also went bankrupt in 1903.

In 1904 Jacobsen accepted a position as a parish priest in Arco (South Tyrol) , where he again dealt with questions of ethnicity. In 1914 he was pastor in Aschersleben .

In the summer of 2009 an open-air theater piece entitled "For Guld og Kejser" was performed in Scherrebek, which dealt critically with Jacobsen's life and work.
