Johannes Läpple (born January 7, 1815 in Flacht ( Oberamt Leonberg ); † May 1, 1860 in Heilbronn ; also Johann Läpple ) was a German artist. He worked as a drawing teacher in Heilbronn and created the templates for numerous lithographs.

Life

Johann Läpple was born on January 7, 1815 in Flacht as the son of a master baker . He attended elementary school until confirmation . Then he came to the Tübingen publishing house of the bookstore Zu-Guttenberg of Esslingen's senior judicial councilor Dr. Karl Ludwig Wilhelm Hofacker (1794–1866). There he received lessons in Latin, Greek and French from him and from other teachers. When Hofacker moved to Stuttgart to do literary work there, Läpple was his secretary. Hofacker discovered Läpple's talent for art and enabled him to attend the art and trade school for two years. Läpple worked for lithographers, creating pattern drawings for the carpet manufacturers Rapp and Landauer.

At the age of 21 he worked as an industrial draftsman for the Fürstenberg'sche Oberhüttenamt in Bachzimmer . Later he worked as an industrial draftsman for the Stumm brothers for the extensive ironworks in Neunkirchen . There he arranged the decoration and gave lessons in drawing and modeling to the poor working class children. Ferdinand von Steinbeis was Läpple's supervisor and fatherly friend in both places (Bachzimmer and Neunkirchen), who obtained a scholarship from Prince von Fürstenberg for a two-year study in Munich for his children's teacher.

Läpple then worked for the publishing house of the Fr. Mangold'schen Buchhandlung in Blaubeuren , where he created illustrations for various publishing works.

On June 4, 1846, he was given the position of teacher at the newly founded drawing and modeling school in Heilbronn, which he took up in October 1846. By means of a decree of July 3, 1847, he was given the position of drawing teacher at the Heilbronn high school and the Realanstalt. On March 27, 1860, Läpple received the title and rank of professor from King Wilhelm I for his meritorious work .

After long and severe suffering, Läpple died on the afternoon of May 1st, 1860.

The organ builder Paul Erich Läpple , lives on Reumontstr. 50 in Paderborn, was the son of the teacher Paul Läpple and grandson of the professor and drawing teacher Johann Läpple .
