Johannes Ludgerus Bonaventure Brenninkmeijer OP , also Hans Brenninkmeijer , (born July 19, 1930 in Amsterdam , Netherlands , † July 2, 2003 in Kroonstad , South Africa ) was Roman Catholic Bishop of Kroonstad .

Life

Hans Brenninkmeijer was the sixth child from the marriage of Arnold Ludger Brenninkmeijer (1894–1951) and Elizabeth Anne (Elly Maurer). He joined the religious order of the Dominicans at and received on 25 July 1957, the ordination. From 1965 to 1968 he was Superior and from 1968 to 1976 Vicar General of his order in South Africa.

Pope Paul VI appointed him on April 15, 1977 bishop of the South African diocese of Kroonstad . Alfonso Liguori Morapeli OMI, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Maseru , donated him his episcopal ordination ; Co- consecrators were Gerard Marie Franciscus van Velsen OP, Former Bishop of Kroonstad, and Hubert Bucher , Bishop of Bethlehem. Brenninkmeijer was a member of the South African Bishops' Conference . His motto was: Spiritus renovavit .

He died unexpectedly in office on July 2, 2003.

The Brenninkmeijer family posthumously established the Bishop Brenninkmeijer Relief Center for AIDS sufferers.
