Johannes Mötsch

Johannes Mötsch (born July 8, 1949 in Bonn ) is a German archivist and historian .

Life

Johannes Mötsch studied history and Latin philology at the University of Bonn from 1970 to 1978 and received his doctorate in 1979. In 1978 he started as a trainee lawyer at the state archive in Koblenz and attended the archive school in Marburg until 1980 . Until 1993 he worked at the state main archive in Koblenz and in 1989 taught at the Marburg archive school. In 1993 he went to the Thuringian Main State Archive in Weimar , where he worked until 1997. In that year he took over the management of the Thuringian State Archives in Meiningen as archive director . In 2014 he retired.

He is a member of the Historical Commission for Thuringia and 1st Chairman of the Hennebergisch-Franconian History Association . Since 2019 he has been chairman of the entire association of German history and antiquity associations .
