Johannes Mattfeld
Johannes Mattfeld (born January 18, 1895 in Lehe near Bremerhaven , † January 19, 1951 in Berlin ) was a German botanist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is “ Mattf. "
Live and act
Mattfeld worked at the Botanical Museum Berlin . He contributed to the 2nd edition of Adolf Engler's work The Natural Plant Families . For volume 16c he wrote the addendum to the Caryophyllaceae (1934), for volume 20b he wrote Pentaphylacaceae and Stackhousiaceae (1942).
Honors
The plant genera Mattfeldia Urb. and Mattfeldanthus H.Rob. & RMKing from the sunflower family (Asteraceae) are named after him.
