Johannes Schepp

Johannes Schepp (* 1938 in Aachen ) is a German painter and sculptor as well as an installation artist .

Live and act

The son of the Aachen sculptor Helmuth Schepp and grandson of the Siegen district administrator Ernst Rudolf Schepp attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1959 in the class of the sculptor Manfred Sieler . In 1963 Schepp received the Ernst Poensgen Prize from the Art Academy and was then a master student of Bruno Goller , professor of painting in Düsseldorf, until 1965 . At the end of his training, he and his father held his first exhibition at the Suermondt-Ludwig-Museum in Aachen.

From 1971 to 2002 he worked as an art teacher at the CJD high school in Versmold . In 1974 he founded the art association 'Galerie et' in Versmold in the historic Caldenhofer Mühle, which he used as a studio. He also became its first chairman.

He now lives and works in his own studio in Borgholzhausen in the Teutoburg Forest . In 1991 Schepp was one of the founders of the “Artists for Europe” initiative, which also organized international exhibitions in the following years.

With his numerous sculptures, pictures and object installations, in which he focuses on Christian art , Schepp has been regularly represented in solo exhibitions at home and abroad since 1978. In addition, he is also a sought-after lecturer in experimental painting.
