Johannes Thummerer
Johannes Thummerer (born December 17, 1888 in Marienbad , Austria-Hungary , † October 31, 1921 in Leipzig ) was a German librarian and writer.
Life
Thummerer attended high school in Komotau and then enrolled at the Charles University in Prague . His studies ended Thummerer successful with a doctorate to Dr. phil.
Then Thummerer got a job as a librarian for the Princely House of Thurn and Taxis at Duino Castle near Trieste . During this activity he met Rainer Maria Rilke , who was staying there as a guest. Rilke's work impressed Thummerer very much and became a model for him.
Thummerer later settled in Leipzig and became a librarian at the Deutsche Bücherei Leipzig . He married and had two daughters, one daughter died as a toddler.
Johannes Thummerer died on October 31, 1921 at the age of 33 of tuberculosis , which he contracted during the First World War . Thummerer and his wife found his final resting place in the south cemetery in Leipzig .
Some works remained unpublished throughout his life, including a. The gentleman from the mirror , the black city and the window cleaner Joachim Janke . Thummerer's literary work begins in late Impressionism; however, like his colleague Viktor Hadwiger , he is one of the earliest Expressionists .
