Johannes W. Pichler

Johannes Werner Pichler (born July 1, 1947 in Linz ) is a former university professor for European legal development at the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz and director of the Austrian Research Institute for Legal Policy in Salzburg .

Life

After studying law at the Universities of Vienna and Salzburg, Pichler continued his academic career as an assistant professor for legal history at the University of Salzburg . Since 1986 he has been head of the Salzburg-based non-university Austrian Research Institute for Legal Policy. In 1994 he took over the chair “European Legal Developments” at the University of Graz.

Pichler is chairman of the association "Europe needs initiative", whose core concern is the promotion of the European citizens' initiative .

He has been a member of the Catholic student union KÖStV Austria Vienna since 1968 and later joined the KÖHV Rheno-Juvavia Salzburg.
