The sculptural works of Johannes Wald do not follow a traditional idea of sculpture. Rather, his works embody the concept of sculpture, arouse questions about the “how” of viewing, contemplating and creating a sculpture. How can abstract concepts such as feelings, artistic qualities and ambitions be materialized? Is form, as mimesis or expression, even possible?

Through the combination of classic sculpting materials such as bronze, marble, plaster or clay and the combination of tradition and modernity, Wald creates an unconditional pleasure in looking at one's own work, which in its motifs refers to ancient Greece or in general to the limits of Sculpture asks.
